There are so many hurting kids in this world. So many kids who are crying out for help. Crying out for love. Crying out for a listening ear. There are so many kids in this world who are Fatherless, orphaned, hopeless, desperate, and lost. There are so many kids who are just simply, confused. Trying to grab a hold of their place, their purpose, their meaning within this life. We live in a country, here in the United States, where kids are worshiped, and yet, at the same time, so many of our youth are left for dead. There is such a dichotomy. We strongly support, with our words at least, education, protection, and health for our kids. But what about our actions? What are we actually doing for our kids? For our youth? Is it truly helping them? We think we know, but do we? What about the neighbor kids? What about the other kids at your son or daughter’s school? What about the kids on the American Indian Reservations? What about the youth in America’s inner-city? The kids held captive within the sex-trade industry? The kids in the hands of the government? The kids who are literally starving to death at this very moment, around the world, in Africa, India, Russia, and in the apartment next to yours? Many of us are blind. We have become blind. We can only see our selves. Our needs, our wants, our comforts, our kids, our families. We are blind to reality. The reality that this life is not all about us getting ours. We are blind to the reality of the pain and hurt of others, of those around us. We are blind to the kids, the youth, who are crying out for help. My heart continues to burn to be one who is reaching out to help. My conscious continues to poke and prod. My soul continues to scream, “WAKE UP!” “LOOK AROUND!” There are so many kids hurting. Helpless. Hopeless. Wandering. I cannot ignore their plight, nor do I want to, or try to. It is indeed time for us all to WAKE UP! It is past time, for us all to open up our eyes. To stop talking, and start doing! It is time to realize this life is not just about you, your kids, your family, but this life is about service to others. Reaching out to others and loving others. It is time we humble ourselves, let go of ourselves, and begin to lead our next generations out of the pit of despair and into the light of hope. Today is the day we begin to help, teach, lead, mentor, and inspire the kids, the youth, of the nations.
